Election time
So with elections coming up we all are wondering who the candidates are and what they stand for. Unfortunately, it seems as though we are left to choose the lesser of two evils for this election. The more I talk to people, the more I hear that people don't care for either candidate. On the one hand you have an inexperienced African American who has a tendency to shift policies. Then there is the old experienced Caucasian who has some different views that a lot of the other conservatives out there. No independent has ever won a bid for the white house so why would they start now. Why out of over 300 million people should we be left to choose between 2 people. Personally I am not discriminatory towards either party but I look for someone who knows what they believe and who I think will actually get something done in office. Granted the president gets blamed for everything that goes wrong and because of congress and the senate, the president really doesn't have that much power, but we need someone who is going to get some good things done in office. However, I don't see that happening so I guess we will have to see what is happening in 4 years. I just think that politics shouldn't be a career. Any career politician who claims that they are "in touch" with reality and the rest of America has no idea what real America is like. Good grief, look at the salaries of those on capitol hill!! Anyone living on that can't be linked with the rest of America. Plus look at the hours, who else can just take 13 weeks off whether they have finished their current project or not to go and travel on the governments budget. What business does any senator or congressman have outside of the U.S. anyway. Shouldn't they be concentrating on their home state. International politics should be left to the president, cabinet members, and maybe leaders within the senate and congress but they should come back to brief the rest of them on the issues if need be. I tell you, if you limited the spending from those elected officials, reduced their salaries, and cut down on their benefits, they might start to feel what the rest of us Americans live with every day. Maybe they would start working for us rather than living in luxury from our hard earned money.
